In this episode of Audio Faculty Spotlight, catch a glimpse of one of the cutting edge studios at F.I.R.S.T. Institute with Jamison Rabbe, one of the Recording Arts instructors at the school. An expert in audio engineering, Rabbe equips his students with the tools necessary to get ahead in their chosen area, wherever that may be: post-production, in the studio, or at live shows!
THE BEST PART ABOUT TEACHING…
Speaking from Studio A at F.I.R.S.T. Institute, where students get the chance to work hands-on with the equipment and interact with recording artists, Rabbe gives us the lowdown on what gets him excited about teaching: the shared passion between the students and the faculty for their projects.
A graduate of Full Sail University with a background in audio engineering, mixing, and producing, Rabbe also keeps busy with online media projects for web companies like Envy Labs.
HOW STUDENTS CAN SUCCEED IN THE AUDIO INDUSTRY
When he’s not in the classroom, he’s busy helping bands and local projects get off the ground, and he brings this ongoing work to bear on his teaching every day. Students that love the work and spend time with the gear outside of class, he says, are the most likely to succeed, whether they want to pursue careers in audio post-production, work in the studio, or support musicians.
It’s a competitive industry, he says, but “there’s always room if you’re good!”
