The Digital Filmmaking and Video Production program is designed to teach students the basics of high definition film and video production and development — whether you are a complete beginner or already have some experience under your belt, you can take away a great deal of information from the program. All students receive a hands-on education using cutting-edge technology available in the field. Film and video industry professionals teach students one-on-one using the very same techniques and equipment that they have used outside of their teaching positions.
COURSE WORK IS FAR FROM ORDINARY!
Students will start fresh with Pre-Production and learn the art of visual story-telling. You will learn how to set the mood, work with different kinds of equipment, pitch your ideas to clients, and much more.
Every aspect of managing your future career is addressed in our program, including a segment dedicated to preparing all of the essential items you will need to search for a job, and an gaining an internship that will help you learn what it’s like to work in the industry before you graduate.
As part of their coursework, students will produce a 30-second commercial and a video testimonial for a local client. The focus of these projects will be on learning the principles of interviewing and shooting of supporting footage for a video.
Each student will also be assigned projects that encourage them to develop their skills and push their creative limits to new heights. The goal is to empower students with the tools and information they need to be competitive in the industry.
In the second phase of their education, students will produce a music video, a short film, and a documentary. After these projects have been completed, you should be able to understand the principles of shooting uncontrolled action, and how to work with actual clients. Animation techniques, compositing, and Motion Graphic Design using Adobe AfterEffects will be used in developing a logo for your company, as well as helping you to produce, edit, and composite visual effects into your projects.
As a F.I.R.S.T. Institute student, you will be graded and held accountable every step of the way as you complete your coursework, all in an effort to drive you toward a career in the film industry! Quizzes and drills will be given periodically to test your understanding of the material taught by your instructors — as long as you’re actively listening and genuinely interested in the subject, you should do just fine!
Once you have completed the 11 month course and graduated from F.I.R.S.T. Institute, you will have the backing of a solid education behind you, and you should have no trouble obtaining at least an entry-level careers in the film industry.
