UNDERSTAND SIGNAL FLOW: AUDIO ENGINEERING AND MUSIC PRODUCTION SCHOOL

There are many aspects to a quality audio and music production education, and understanding signal flow is one important part. Read on to hear about some student experience who learned signal flow at F.I.R.S.T. Institute‘s Audio Engineering and Music Production Program!

THE IMPORTANCE OF UNDERSTANDING SIGNAL FLOW

When you understand signal flow you can walk into any audio recording studio and be successful. Today at F.I.R.S.T Institute, Audio Engineering and Music Production Class 203 is learning just that! With the guidance of their instructor, audio engineer John LaRosa, the class is setting up microphones, cue mixes, learning patch bay configurations, and more!

Through trial and error, the students gain confidence as they work in groups to conquer the analog recording console Mackie 24.

“It was confusing at first but the more I practice the better I understand,” said student Anthony Buggs.

Learning signal flow also gives the class a chance to mix “outside the box” as they work with industry standard outboard gear from the MOTU sound card, Lexicon signal processor, Avalon mic pre, and more.
