Members of Class 1152 at F.I.R.S.T. Institute in Orlando, Florida really love Instructor Rick Sellers. These are just some of the things they have to say about the Digital Filmmaking and Music Production program instructor.
Rick Sellers Provides a Hands-On Learning Experience
Mr. Sellers definitely has experience in the music and film production industry. He always brings different projects he’s completed to class and shares them with his students.
The instructor advises them that not all directors are the same. You need to learn to work with your co-workers to get the job done. Yes, everyone is different. But just get in there and do your job.
He allows his students to run with their projects. However, he does keep them on sort of a leash. Rick believes in letting the students learn through hands-on experience… the best way to learn how to create digital films and produce music.
One student says, “You have to fail to succeed.”
For Rick Sellers, Patience Is Key
Another student, who’s been attending F.I.R.S.T. Institute for a little over nine months now, says he’s learned so much in the film and music production program. Rick is there for his students, sticking by them throughout the entire process. Students are grateful to Mr. Sellers for that.
One of his students, who interns for other companies, says she always has questions. A lot of tasks assigned to her as an intern are foreign to her at first. She can always go to Rick for the answers.
All of the students are determined to do their best in the F.I.R.S.T. Institute Digital Filmmaking and Music Production program. They work together to help each other.
When doing projects and edits, they can always ask for Rick’s opinion. He provides honest, constructive criticism, so students continuously improve their music and film production skills.
The F.I.R.S.T. instructor is a great guy and he’s extremely patient with his students. They say he manages his classroom very well and provides a great learning experience.
Rick Sellers Brags About Class 1152 at F.I.R.S.T. Institute
According to Rick, Class 1152 has been challenging on many levels. However, he says the challenges are “good” ones. His students are very passionate about making music and films. He calls Class 1152 one of the most passionate he’s worked with so far as a F.I.R.S.T. instructor.
Many of his students are at pretty high skill levels. They are a family who works hard to help each other raise their skill levels in everything they do. Rick says they’ve been a great group to work with at F.I.R.S.T.
One of the things he does as an instructor that makes him unique is the fact that he’s always “just Rick” every single day. Mr. Sellers thinks making films should be fun and prides himself on being the class clown. Sometimes, he jokingly calls his students knuckleheads and children of the corn and other fun things like that.
Students jokingly tell him he has a case of Tourette syndrome because he tends to start singing out of nowhere. Rick Sellers says, “That’s just kinda me.”
