F.I.R.S.T. Institute Reviews – November 2019
In our final graduation ceremony of the year, we bid farewell and good luck to members of our Recording Arts, Film & Video, and Web & Graphics programs.
Before these graduates jump into their new careers, we asked them about their experience at F.I.R.ST., and what comes next.
As a member of the Recording Arts programs, Mason’s favorite part of his experience was the hands-on education – a viewpoint echoed by every graduate we interviewed. Mason liked the balance between the time he spent in the classroom studying, and the time he spent working with professional equipment in the studio.
Building off of Mason’s input, Asher says that hands-on learning is the best way to get started in the industry. As a Film & Video graduate, he says creating the commercial “Woof Orlando” as a class project was gratifying from beginning to end.
Another Film & Video graduate, David recounted his favorite part of the curriculum was creating short films as part of a group. Coming together as a unit, creating a plan, and executing it resulted in final products that he was proud of – and further, were just fun to participate in.
Alex’s favorite part of the Web & Graphics program was working on projects from start to finish, specifically his portfolio site. Creating the website from scratch was an educational experience, and it resulted in a great place to showcase his past and future work.
Diana loved how helpful her instructors were, and how they created a great environment for her to learn and connect with other students. Education is only one part of the experience at F.I.R.S.T. – building a network with other creatives is another huge benefit once students jump into their respective industries.
Cinso gave a shoutout to his favorite instructor, Omar. He recounts how understanding Omar was, and felt his support throughout his time at the school.
Finally, Ali states that he didn’t only learn from his instructors – but from his classmates, as well. Collaborating with others in the field was, in his words, “just the best”.
These students have bright futures ahead in multiple creative industries. Using the knowledge and connections they gained at F.I.R.S.T., anything is possible!
