Students of all backgrounds and circumstances are welcome at F.I.R.S.T. Institute! We have a range of financial aid options and payment arrangements to assist students in paying for their education with us, and today we are answering a very important question for both Audio Engineering & Music Production and Film & Video Production students: Is F.I.R.S.T. Institute accredited? Yes!
F.I.R.S.T. INSTITUTE IS ACCREDITED!
We are licensed by the CIE (Commission for Independent Education) and accredited by the ACCET and by the Title IV program, which enables us to receive federal funds — you can apply for these by filling out a FAFSA application. Our licensing and accreditation also enable us to work with the US Department of Veterans Affairs.
Because the Florida Institute of Recording, Sound, and Technology is a licensed and accredited institution, we are able to work with the Department of Education and the US Department of Veterans Affairs to help students participate in our programs.
Our goal is to help students finance their education in whatever way we can.
WHAT IS ACCREDITATION?
Accreditation is a voluntary process of self-regulation and peer review that has been adopted by the educational community. Institutions of higher education, like F.I.R.S.T. Institute, have voluntarily entered into their respective regional associations in order to evaluate each other in accord with their respective goals.
WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR STUDENTS?
Being accredited is very important for a school, and something that all prospective students should consider before enrolling in any program. Accreditation provides assurance to students that the school is engaged in continuous review and improvement of the quality of its programs, and that these programs meet a nationally endorsed standard in the profession. Our accreditation proves that we are making ourselves accountable for delivering the best possible educational opportunities to our students!
ACCREDITATION AND YOUR FUTURE
As a student, you should pay special attention to whether or not a school you’re considering is accredited, how it is accredited, and by which agency. This information is important not only because it ensures that you will be receiving a quality education, but also because your future employers will want to know if your education is backed by accreditation for the school you attended.
Employers, even if they are not bigger businesses, are going to want to know if you went to an accredited school. Without some sort of accreditation, they cannot know for sure what level of quality standards your educational program was held to. While you might have all of the knowledge and skills you need to do the job you’re applying for, how you came by your education is still something many employers will be looking at.
