Meet Angela Danforth, our most recent valedictorian in our graduating class of November 2019, and a member of the Graphic Design and Web Development program here at F.I.R.S.T. Institute!
Angela first immersed herself in the world of graphic design in high school. After taking a digital design course on a whim, she fell in love with the creative process. With the encouragement of her teacher Mrs. Turner, Angela’s burgeoning interest in graphic design developed into her passion.
Angela Found F.I.R.S.T. Institute
Nearing high school graduation, Angela was unsure if she wanted to attend college. She began exploring local trade schools with the help of her mentor, the same Mrs. Turner that sparked her interest in graphic design.
Mrs. Turner recommended F.I.R.S.T. Institute to Angela. Less than a year later, Angela is the valedictorian of her class.
Angela liked the idea of F.I.R.S.T. because of the small class sizes, meaning a more hands-on approach to her education. No matter what problems she faced during her time at the school, there was always someone there to help her.
What F.I.R.S.T. Gave to Angela
Angela was excited to attend F.I.R.S.T. because she viewed starting the school as starting her life.
She recounts how the school gave her confidence. At first, she was afraid to stand up for herself, fearing that she would be rude. But her instructor Brandon reassured her, telling her she must be brave to be successful in the industry.
Brandon would also help Angela with one of her most important and personal projects – designing her sister’s wedding invitation. Angela obsessed over the creation of the invitation, scrutinizing fonts and design elements for months, along with the help of Brandon and her other instructors. Now she says it’s her favorite project to date.

Angela credits attending F.I.R.S.T. as the single best decision of her life. There’s no other place that can stack up to the experience she’s gained over the past 11 months.
That’s right — the on-campus Graphic Design & Web Development program lasts just 11 months, designed to get students out in the field faster and with more knowledge. The new Graphic Design Online program is even more streamlined at just six months. This new course opens in January 2020!
